  • Marksmen beat Patriots, Rebels
    REO—Tell City won seven events to beat Heritage Hills and South Spencer in girls middle school diving last Thursday. The Marksmen tallied 122 points, while the Patriots scored 107 and the Rebels had 67. Patriot Sara Burns won the 50-yard butterfly in 35.12 seconds and swam with Trinity DeWitt, Jordyn Dunsworth and Shelby Klueh to win the 200 medley relay in 2:15.20. Mariah Burdin won the only other event for the Patriots—one-meter diving. She scored 66.6 points to beat teammate
  • Rockport to host state tourney
    ROCKPORT—It has been 22 years, but once again Joe Allen Hargis Athletic Field will host Indiana’s American Legion state finals. Rockport Post 254 General Manager Owen Wells learned the $7,500 required bid was accepted by the state’s committee Jan. 12. Wells said, “We’re really excited to be hosting again and expect a big crowd. “It should be a fun time and also help benefit local businesses.”
  • Ward wins in national tourney
    STEAMBOAT, Colo.—Tyler Ward, a Heritage Hills eighth grader, won the Steamboat Triple Crown World Series with the Missouri Mudcats baseball team Aug. 8. The Mudcats went 8-0 in the tourney. Ward started on the mound against the undefeated Catfield Chargers from Littleton, Colo., in the semifinals. He earned the victory as the Mudcats won 16-1 in four innings.
  • Evanston Hog Roast events set
    EVANSTON—A bring-your-own partner euchre tourney has been added to the Evanston Hog Roast this year. Other tourneys at the Sept. 18 hog roast will be coed softball, coed volleyball, cornhole and horseshoes. Euchre The double-elimination euchre tourney will be held inside the Evanston Civic Association Community Center. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m., with games starting at noon.
