    Soup sale in Mariah Hill Saturday
    MARIAH HILL – The Mariah Hill Conservation Club will sponsor a soup sale Saturday morning at the clubhouse located two miles east of Mariah Hill on Indiana 62.
    The soup will be sold by the gallon only and is $13 per gallon. Customers are asked to take their own containers.

  • Grandview VFD chili supper Sunday

    GRANDVIEW - Grandview Volunteer Fire Department will hold a benefit chili supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Grandview Fire House.
    A donation of $5 is asked for the meal which includes chili, peanut butter sandwich, dessert and drink.
    All proceeds from the event will go to the medical bills of Liz Sandage, the
    mother-in-law of Grandview firefighter Scott Richard. In the past month, Sandage has been re-diagnosed with non-surgical cancer and she will be
    under going treatments in the next few months to help her regress the
    cancer.

    Scenic Hills to host Halloween party
    FERDINAND – Scenic Hills Care Center will host a Halloween party and pumpkin decorating contest at 6:30 p.m. EDT Friday. All pumpkins should be decorated before the party.

    Meet-your-candidates dinner today
    MIDWAY – The Spencer County Republican Central Committee will host a Meet Your Republican Candidates soup and sandwich dinner at 6 p.m. today at the Midway Gwaltney Park. The public is encouraged to attend to get to know the candidates and share a prepared meal.

    St. Meinrad fundraiser
    ST. MEINRAD – A Mary Kay “Mascary” open house fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 24 for the St. Meinrad Sesquicentennial.
    Those interested are encouraged to attend the event at Carol Troesch’s home, 1967 N. Fifth Street, St. Meinrad. The group will share makeup and skin care tips, shop many make up treats and receive satin hand treatments.

    Lincoln Trail chili supper Saturday
    LAMAR – Lincoln Trail Elementary School near Lamar will host a chili supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The community is invited to attend and enjoy a bowl of chili, hamburgers or hot dogs, play games, jump in the inflatable bounce houses, check out vendor booths and bid in the silent auction.
    All proceeds from the event will go directly to help fund extra activities and playground equipment for the kids at Lincoln Trail.

    SSHS band contest Oct. 9
    REO – The South Spencer High School Marching Rebels will host their 22nd invitational marching band contest.
    The event will kickoff at 5 p.m. Oct. 9 at the high school and 13 bands from the area will compete. Food stands will be available and the community is encouraged to attend.

    Twilight Towers dance Friday
    TELL CITY – Twilight Towers, 1648 10th Street in Tell City, will hold an outdoor music and dance at 6 p.m. Friday with George and the Country Boys performing.
    This event will be held on the patio on the south side of the building and is free to the public. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
    Those attending are asked to take a lawn chair. In case of rain, the event will be held inside in the dining room. Everyone is welcome.

    Friday After Seven is Oct. 1
    ROCKPORT – Rockport’s Friday After Seven at the American Legion Post 254 is scheduled for Oct. 1. Dinner is at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Music styles will include with R&B, Motown, rock and country music. Dinner includes barbecued chicken, ribs and Boston butt, potato salad, barbecued beans and banana pudding.
