    Red Hat Society trip March 31
    ROCKPORT – The Red Hat Society will travel to the Schnitzelbank Restaurant in Jasper Thursday, March 31. The group will leave Heath Acres at 9:30 a.m.

  • Young to celebrate 90th birthday Sunday

    ROCKPORT – Family and friends are invited to a 90th birthday party being held for Frieda Young of Rockport form 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at Honey Creek Farm.

    Young was born April 4, 1921, in Hatfield. She is a 1938 graduate of Luce Township High School and was a stay-at-home mom raising four children.
    She and her first husband, Elmer Young, were married 50 years before his death. She married Charles Feigel and the couple were together five years before his death.

    Mt. Zion UMC to host soup, sandwich supper
    RICHLAND – The congregation of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church invites the community to attend the annual soup and sandwich supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the church.
    The menu will include chili, potato, vegetable and chicken noodle soups, pimento cheese, chicken salad, peanut butter and ham salad sandwiches and homemade desserts.
    Free will donations will be accepted.

    Fish Fry in Grandview
    GRANDVIEW – The Grandview Civic Association, located on Indiana 66, will host a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 18.
    The menus will include catfish fillets, hush puppies, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, homemade dessert and drink.
    Cost is $8 for adults and $3.50 for children 10 years old and younger. The building is handicap accessible and carryouts will be available.

    Dine and dance at the Legion
    ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad American Legion will host a dine and dance March 12 at the St. Meinrad American Legion Home.
    Price of admission is $30 a couple and includes a meal, drinks all evening and dancing to the music of Crosswind.
    The meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are required by calling 357-5583. The public is invited to this event.

    DALE – The Catholic community of North Spencer invites all community members to its first Tri-Parish health Ministry Health Fair and Exhibition from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 26 at the St. Joseph’s Community Center located in Dale.

    Toenail-care clinic March 1
    ROCKPORT – Miller’s Merry Manor will host a free toenail-cutting clinic at 1 p.m. March 1 at the Hatfield Public Library in Hatfield.
    Other services will include glucose and blood-pressure screenings.

    ROCKPORT – The Red Hat Society will travel to Owensboro today for lunch at Colby’s and shopping. The group will be leaving Heath Acres in Rockport at 11 a.m.

    Pork chop dinner, basket auction Feb. 26
    ROCKPORT – A 4-H pork-chop dinner will be served 5 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 26, with a basket auction starting at 6:30 p.m.
    Tickets for adults are $8 and $5 for children prior to the day of the dinner. Tickets are available from 4-H Association members, 4-H leaders or by calling the Purdue extension office at 649-6022.
