    Scrapbooking fundraiser Jan. 22
    CHRISNEY – A scrapbooking and paper-crafts crop fundraiser will be held at Chrisney Elementary, 311 N. Church Street in Chrisney from 2 to 10 p.m. Jan. 22.
    Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for school-age children accompanied by adults. Meal tickets will be optional. Consultants will be on hand demonstrating products and taking orders.

    Talk To a Lawyer for free Jan. 6
    EVANSVILLE – The first 2011 monthly Talk To a Lawyer call in clinic, co-sponsored by Volunteer Lawyer Program of Southwestern Indiana and the Evansville Bar Foundation, will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6.

    Santa to visit Legion
    ROCKPORT – Santa will visit the Rockport American Legion at 1 p.m. Saturday.
    Doors will open at noon and the post will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks and treats. Each child will leave with a gift and bag of fruit.

    St. John’s to hold blood drive
    EVANSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston will host an American Red Cross Community Blood Drive from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Dec. 19 in the church fellowship hall.
    During the holidays, there is usually more demand for blood and fewer people take the time to donate. So consider giving blood to someone this Christmas season organizer urge.
    The goal for the community is 25 blood donors. Those donating need to have identification or a Red Cross card.

    Relay committee, team captains to meet
    DALE – A Spencer County Relay for Life Committee and team captain meeting will take place Dec. 6 at the Carter Fire Station in Dale.
    The committee will meet at 6 p.m. and the team captain meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

    SC retired teachers to meet Dec. 9
    SANTA CLAUS – The Spencer County Retired Teachers will meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 at Santa’s Lodge in Santa Claus.
    The guest speaker will be Andrew Thomas, executive director of Indiana Retired Teachers Association.

    Spencer County Republicans to host party
    CHRISNEY – The Spencer County Republicans will hold a Christmas party and victory celebration Sunday, Dec. 12 in the early afternoon at the Spencer County Youth and Community Center, Chrisney.

    Childhood immunizations, flu vaccine clinics planned
    SPENCER COUNTY – The Spencer County Health Department will offer free childhood immunizations during November at two locations in the county. Sites and times are as follows:
    • Nov. 16 and 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Spencer County courthouse Room 1.
    • Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community Action Building in Dale.
    Flu vaccines for adults and children will also be available. Times are as follows:

    Soup sale in Mariah Hill Saturday
    MARIAH HILL – The Mariah Hill Conservation Club will sponsor a soup sale Saturday morning at the clubhouse located two miles east of Mariah Hill on Indiana 62.
    The soup will be sold by the gallon only and is $13 per gallon. Customers are asked to take their own containers.

  • Grandview VFD chili supper Sunday

    GRANDVIEW - Grandview Volunteer Fire Department will hold a benefit chili supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Grandview Fire House.
    A donation of $5 is asked for the meal which includes chili, peanut butter sandwich, dessert and drink.
    All proceeds from the event will go to the medical bills of Liz Sandage, the
    mother-in-law of Grandview firefighter Scott Richard. In the past month, Sandage has been re-diagnosed with non-surgical cancer and she will be
    under going treatments in the next few months to help her regress the
    cancer.
