    Annual youth grub hunt
    DALE – The youth groups of St. Joseph, St. Nicholas and Mary, Help of Christians churches will have their annual grub hunt at 3 p.m. Oct. 17 in Dale. The youth will go door to door in the Dale area collecting non-perishable food items.
    All proceeds will go directly to the North Spencer Community Action Center to be given to families in need. If you will not be home, you may leave your light on and leave a bag by your front door.

  • Seminarians sharing talents Oct. 24

    ST. MEINRAD – Seminarians of Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology will give a free concert of sacred and classical music Sunday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. at Saint Meinrad Archabbey. The concert will be held in the Archabbey Church and is open to the public.
    The 90-minute program, under the direction of Sister Bernardone Rock, director of liturgical music for the Seminary and School of Theology, will feature a student schola performing Boyce’s “Alleluia” and Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”

  • Sisters hosting concert Oct. 30

    FERDINAND – The vocal group Angelus will perform at 7:30 p.m. EDT Saturday, Oct. 30 at Monastery Immaculate Conception Church in Ferdinand. The public is welcome to attend.
    Angelus, a group of six talented vocalists from Mount Vernon High School, will perform sacred music of varied religious traditions and historical periods. Also performing will be Sister Theresita Schenk, monastery organist, and Sister Jeana Visel will sing a famous selection from Hildegard von Bingen.

    Freedom Riders Pipes and Chrome Show Saturday
    CANNELTON – Agape Community Church’s Freedom Riders motorcycle ministry will host its third annual Pipes and Chrome Bike Show during Cannelton’s Fall Heritage Fest Saturday.
    The show will be held at 115 Washington St., in front of the Cannelton Life Center. The categories for motorcycles are stock street cruiser, sport bike, trike, custom, classic pre-1986 and scooter.

  • Celebration Singers presenting Legacy of Faith at St. Henry and Santa Claus

    ST HENRY - The Celebration Singers Community Choir will participate in a centennial celebration Oct. 10 at St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry. The program begins at 4 p.m. EDT. The choir will sing Joseph M. Martin’s “Legacy of Faith” which was written in 2002 in response to the events of Sept. 11, 2001. “Legacy of Faith” was commissioned to share the music of God’s grace and hope, and to honor the service and sacrifice of all those who protect our lives and country.

    Nazarene Church yard sale
    GRANDVIEW – Nazarene Church in Grandview, located at 318 Church Street, will have a yard sale at 7 a.m. Saturday. The sale will be held rain or shine.

  • Alfred Helms to speak at Mount Zion Christian Church Sunday

    SANTA CLAUS – Mount Zion Christian Church in Santa Claus will finish celebrating its 175th anniversary homecoming Sunday with speaker Brother Alfred Helms.
    Helms will give the morning message and Jim Hutson of Columbus will provide music during the service. Services start at 10 a.m. and Sunday school is at 9 a.m.
    Mount Zion Christian Church is two miles south of Santa Claus on Indiana 245.
    Helms served at Mount Zion 1969 to 1976. He and his wife, Janet, reside in Alfordsville. They have three children.

  • HH Baptist revival Oct. 10-13

    LINCOLN CITY – Heritage Hill Baptist Church will host a Spiritual Breakthrough Revival at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Oct. 10 and at 6 p.m. Oct. 11-13.
    Evangelist Dale Rose will deliver the message. He has more than 17 years of pastoral and evangelist experience. Rose participates in more 26 crusades and revivals annually, as well as international mission trips. He will teach a seminar on “Improving Your Personal Worship Time” at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 10, during Sunday School.

  • Final pilgrimage Sunday

    ST. MEINRAD – The final Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for Sunday.
    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. Speaker and topic are this week is the Rev. Pius Klein OSB, “Mary, Mother of Faith”
    Services begin at 2 p.m. CDT. The public is invited. The Monte Cassino Shrine is located one mile east of the Archabbey on Indiana 62.

    Richland General Baptist fall homecoming Oct. 3
    RICHLAND – Richland General Baptist Church will hold its fall homecoming Oct. 3. The Rev. Leland Geary will speak at 10:30 a.m., lunch will be at noon and an afternoon of singing will feature Brothers Jeff Bryant and Rick Osborne. James Haynes and the congregation invite the public to join them for a great time of fellowship.
