ROCKPORT—Rockport won won five of six American Legion baseball games in the past week to conclude its regular season on a high note.

Jared Lauer drove in four runs and Dayne Seibert added three RBIs in a 15-2 blowout of Boonville July 9.

Lauer finished with four hits and Kobe Stephens reached base five times.

Lauer had three more RBIs and C.J. Rowe improved to 4-0 on the mound as Rockport defeated Jasper 11-4 July 10.

For the second straight game, Lauer had four hits. He finished with three doubles and scored twice.

Rowe struck out three and got plenty of help from his offense, which belted out 19 hits.

Post 254’s offense exploded for eight first-inning runs in a 17-1 blowout of Washington Friday.

Nine players contributed RBIs for Rockport, with Nathan Kuester and Chandler Roberts each having three.

Post 254 also took advantage of six Washington errors, four of which came in the monster first inning.

On the mound, Jacob Brown scattered six hits and struck out eight to improve to 3-1.

Led by a three-run Lauer double, Rockport scored four seventh-inning runs Saturday to break a 2-2 tie with Henderson and grab a 6-2 win.

Lauer scored the inning’s fourth run on a Seibert ground-out.

Lauer was also strong on the mound, allowing just two hits over six innings.

Patrick McBride pitched the final three innings, allowing no runs and just one hit to get the victory.

Rockport’s winning ways were temporarily halted Sunday, as Lyon County used a three-run first inning as a springboard to a 4-2 victory.

Post 254 was unable to overcome an assortment of crucial mistakes, including five errors and 14 stranded base runners.
Tyler Schneider, Lauer and Chandler Roberts each had two hits for Rockport.

It was the first time Lyon County has beaten Post 254 in a series that dates back to 2008.

Rockport needed extra innings but got back on the winning track with a 10-9 win over Floyds Knobs in the regular-season finale Monday.

Seibert led off the 11th with a double and  reached third on a passed ball.

After Charleston Roberts walked, Duvall hit a ground ball to short which forced Roberts out. But Duvall was able to hustle down the line to beat out the double-play attempt, allowing Seibert to score the winning run.

Schneider, who scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth on a wild pitch, and Duvall each had three hits. Beard led the team with three RBIs.

Rockport finished the regular season 15-5.
