Evansville ISP investigate murder of Chrisney woman

FORT BRANCH – The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating an apparent murder Tuesday at 501 S. Lincoln St. in Fort Branch.

A preliminary investigation reveals that at approximately 1:50 p.m. the Indiana State Police received information that Robert Spangler, 66, of Fort Branch had allegedly killed his girlfriend.

Spangler turned himself in a short time later at the Evansville State Police Post.

Two troopers at the post placed Spangler into custody without incident while other troopers responded to the scene, where they located the body of Patricia A. Heichelbech, 70, of 6558 N. Orchard Road, Chrisney in the house.
