Grandview Civic street clean-up event Saturday


GRANDVIEW – The Grandview Civic Association will sponsor a street clean-up day Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Civic Center.  For each orange bag filled with street and roadside trash in and around Grandview, receive one ticket per bag for a chance to win $100.

Orange bags may be picked up at the Grandview Town Hall. No household trash will be accepted. Debbie Steinkamp will be the speaker at the April 25 civic association meeting which will start at 7 p.m. There will be refreshments served following the meeting.


American Red Cross Blood Drive at 4-H center May 1


CHRISNEY – The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 1. It will be held in the main room of the Spencer County 4-H Youth and Community Center near Chrisney. Call (800) 733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org and enter 024380 to schedule an appointment.

You can save up to 15 minutes by starting the donation process on the day of your appointment, before leaving home, by completing an online pre-donation and health history questionnaire.

Harlem Wizards coming to South Spencer May 5


REO – The Harlem Wizards are coming to South Spencer High School at 7 p.m. Friday, May 5. The evening promises to be a fun- filled event that is great for kids and adults and will guarantee to put a smile on your face. This event is hosted by The South Spencer Music Parents. They have brought The Wizards into town to help benefit the South Spencer music programs.

The Harlem Wizards have a unique mission, to create awe-inspiring events throughout the country. At a Wizards game, fans will witness amazing basketball talent combined with hilarious comedy. Its two hours of family time where parents, grandparents, and kids can all laugh together. When you’re in the stands, you’re more than a spectator; you’re part of the show with loads of audience participation.

Throughout the game, fans will experience a magical display of tricks, coordinated ball handling, fancy passing and aerodynamic athleticism combined with high-energy comedy and audience interaction. The experience can only be summed up in two words: awe-inspiring. Tickets purchased before the event are $10. Tickets can be purchased at the Angelo’s Pizza (824 Sycamore St., Rockport) from now until the day of the game, May 5. Tickets will also be available for $10 online at www.Harlemwizards.com. Tickets will be available at the door for $12 each.


Watershed study purpose of May 2 meeting


DALE – The Spencer County Soil and Water Conservation District will host a public meeting Tuesday, May 2, beginning at 6 p.m. in the meeting rooms of the Lincoln Heritage Public Library. 

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the technical results of the Lake and River Enhancement Watershed Diagnostic Study of the Upper Little Pigeon, headwaters of the Little Pigeon, and Buckhorn Creek in Spencer, Warrick and Dubois counties. Everyone is welcome to attend.
