Mary Ruth Parker, 87

ROCKPORT – Mary Ruth Parker, 87, of Rockport, widow of Frank E. Parker, passed away Wed-nesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rockport.

Mary was born April 23, 1924, in Chrisney to the late Edwin McKinley and Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) Ayer.
Graduating in 1941 from Rockport High School, she moved to Indianapolis, where she worked at IU Medical Center, P.R. Mallory and the Indianapolis Star. Returning to Rockport after the end of World War II, she worked at the Rockport Journal and later retired from the law office of Sidney R. Lindsey.
On June 13, 1948, she married Frank E. Parker who preceded her in death Nov. 8, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John G. Ayer.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Nina Records of Portland and Rosalie Bledsoe of Evansville, along with several nieces and nephews and special friends James and Susie Higdon and Max and Bertie Schumacher.
Services were held Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. The Rev. Larry VanCamp officiated. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church and the Anthony (Tony) Higdon Memorial Scholarship Fund at South Spencer High School.
